Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday! Not only does it fall approximately a week after my birthday, but I get to relax, spend time with family, and eat delicious food & dessert! Talk about celebration!!
Thanksgiving 2014 was a bit different…in a great way: I volunteered with the All Things Community Thanksgiving program, providing Thanksgiving meals for the homeless and less fortunate in my community! The venue was transformed into an upscale restaurant, where the guests where seated and served a hot Thanksgiving meal. They were also given to-go boxes filled to the brim with extra Thanksgiving goodies! After the dessert was served, they were able to shop in the All Things Community boutique where they could select from donated clothing, shoes, accessories, toiletry items, and snacks free of charge! There were blankets, backpacks full of essentials, lotion, pet food, stuffed animals for children, and more!
107 vounteers served 58 guests, and the smiles on their faces were priceless.
I reached out to friends and NTG supporters seeking volunteer or donated items, and NTG supporters donated a total of 13 bags of clothing!! I’d like to personally thank those who cleaned out their closets and donated clothing items! THANK YOU to Makala Lee, Erin Green, and Mason & Karen McBride! May God bless you for the seed that you’ve sown into these people’s lives.
Now, for me, Thanksgiving is more than just my love for food, and family. It’s no longer only about me taking time to be thankful for my blessings. Now, Thanksgiving is also about GIVING. Giving thanks, giving time, and giving love…
